Privacy and legal notice

1. Who we are

These tools are published under the name gasright.info. They are provided by the person or organisation that makes this copy of the site available (the “operator”). This copy may be the public website or a copy running on a computer on a local network.

The operator is the controller of any personal data that this copy actually holds (for example a write-only export record on the host computer). There is no central user account system and no registered company is identified on this site. This site is not a Gas Safe business listing.

2. Independent of Gas Safe and other bodies

gasright.info is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, approved by, or connected to Gas Safe Register, the Health and Safety Executive, the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM), the British Standards Institution (BSI), any gas transporter, supplier, meter asset manager, or any certification, assessment or registration body.

“Gas Safe” and “Gas Safe Register” are used here only to make that lack of connection clear. Do not treat this site as official guidance from those organisations.

3. What this site is — and is not

The site offers calculation aids and checklists for people who already hold the competence to do the work. It is guidance only.

If you are not competent to do the work, do not use these tools to attempt it.

4. Your responsibility and our liability

By using this site you accept that the operator, gasright.info, and anyone who helped build or host it accept no responsibility for any error or omission on the site, or for any loss, damage, injury, failed inspection, failed audit, wasted time, cost, claim, or other issue that arises because you — or anyone else — used the site or relied on its output.

That includes use on a phone, tablet or computer, use of a printed export, and use of figures copied from the screen. Use is entirely at your own risk. You remain solely responsible for your work on site and for any document you sign.

To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of England, Wales and Scotland, all implied warranties are excluded. Nothing in this notice excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that English or Scots law does not allow to be excluded. Those limits apply even if a particular loss was foreseeable.

This site is provided free of charge, as seen, without any promise that it is accurate, complete, available, or fit for a particular job.

5. Privacy — what we do not do

UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) apply to websites that process personal data. This section tells you what this site does and does not do.

This site:

Calculations run in your browser. The operator does not receive a live feed of every number you type.

6. What may stay on your device

To stop a refresh wiping an unfinished job, the tools may keep a draft in your browser’s local storage on this device only (for example engineer name, location, pipe figures, checklist answers, kW). That is not a cookie used for advertising. It is not sent to a gasright.info cloud account.

Under PECR, storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for can be used without a separate cookie banner. You can delete it at any time by using Reset in the tool, or by clearing this site’s data in the browser settings. If you use someone else’s phone, do not type information you do not want left on that device.

The site may also store a small setting so it can be added to a phone home screen (the web app manifest). That is not used to identify you.

7. What may be kept if you export a PDF

If you tap Export PDF while this copy is being served from a host computer, that host may append a write-only record of the export. That record can include the unique reference printed on the PDF, the date and time, engineer name, location, notes, and the figures shown on the export. It is kept so the operator of that copy has a log of what was printed. It is not listed on the website, not a login, and not sold.

If you are using a copy on someone else’s computer or network, that person or organisation holds the log, not a central gasright.info cloud. Do not export if you do not want that host to keep those details.

The website files themselves do not let visitors download that log.

8. Personal data, lawful basis and retention

Most use of the calculators does not send personal data to the operator. Personal data is only likely to arise if:

Where that happens, the lawful basis is UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f) — legitimate interests: keeping a draft of a job you started on this device, and keeping a record of an export you chose to make, so the tools work as you used them. You can refuse by not entering a name, by clearing the device, or by not exporting.

Drafts on a device last until you clear them. Export records last until the operator of that copy deletes the log. There is no published retention period because this is not a staffed accounts service.

The operator does not use your data for automated decisions that produce legal effects.

9. Your rights

If personal data about you is held (for example your name on an export log), UK GDPR gives you rights to be informed, to access, to rectification, to erasure, to restrict processing, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Those rights are not absolute.

This site has no user account from which you can download or delete a cloud profile, because none exists. To delete a draft, clear this site’s data in the browser or use Reset. To ask about an export record, contact the person who gave you access to that copy of the site.

You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator: ico.org.uk. The ICO prefers you to raise the issue with the controller first.

10. Children

These tools are for competent gas work. They are not aimed at children. Do not enter children’s personal data.

11. Other UK website rules

This notice is meant to cover, in plain language:

Hosting may be in the United Kingdom. If you open a copy on a local network, that copy is hosted wherever that computer is.

12. Governing law

These terms and this notice are governed by the laws of England, Wales and Scotland. Disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales or of Scotland. If you are a consumer living in Northern Ireland you may also bring a claim in your home courts.

13. Changes

This notice may change when the tools change. The date at the top is the date of this wording. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated notice.
